VSW Spring 2018 State Outing
Sixteen coaches attended the April Vol State Winnies Outing at Nashville I-24 RV Park in Smyrna, TN. New members attending were Jim & Rose Paschal, Joe & Irene Dyer and Bob Graf and Bobbie Baird.
The rally started off with a pre-rally dinner attended by 21 members at Hickory Falls Woodfired Grill in Smyrna. Other events included a potluck on Thursday with games following. On Friday we toured Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro and followed that with lunch at Demo's Restaurant. Several toured other historic sites in the area in the afternoon.
In the evening the campground furnished entertainment for all their campers. Our entertainers were the Matt's Family Jam. It was a family with husband, wife and three children from 12 to 19. They were excellent and had people tapping their toes and some dancing to the wonderful sounds. The RV Park had arranged for a food truck to be present so many of us patronized them for our evening meal. The Matt's family is living at the RV Park while in the Nashville area and it was their first time to perform at the RV Park. They came to Nashville from Branson.
Saturday we had VSW and Chapter meetings followed by free time to visit local sites. Several went to the town of Bell Buckle to tour the stores and have ice cream. Another couple went to Wartrace, TN to visit the Walking Horse Museum. The evening meal was barbecue brought in from Kinfolk's Barbecue, a local barbecue restaurant. They also furnished the potato salad and the club added applesauce and cake for dessert. After eating we again had a rousing session of games.
Each morning started with coffee, bagels, toast, sweet rolls and fruit. Thanks to all who helped with the outing and all who came to enjoy.
